Discovery trail starting from the guest house in Moustiers Sainte Marie
Our discovery tour starts right from the house.
After a long, tiring day of travelling by car or motorcycle, how about stretching your legs and diving straight into the heart of your vacation?
This trail literally immerses you in Haute-Provence. A great idea to kick-start the vacations or start or end the day.
From the parking lot of the Ferme du Petit Ségriès guest house, follow the red markers. After a 10-15 minute walk, they will take you to a rocky promontory dotted with box and juniper trees, offering a 360° view of the Moustiers Sainte Marie valley, Lake Sainte Croix, the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon, Cime de Barbin and the Ourbès plateau, Le Pavillon, Montdenier, Agra, Montagne de Lure and, on a clear day, Mont Ventoux, the Luberon, Mont Sainte-Victoire and the immense, purplish Valensole plateau in June/July.
From here, after enjoying the scenery, there are a number of options open to you:
-
go home
-
sit back and enjoy the view, sharing a drink or a picnic as the sun goes down, for this is a truly breathtakingly beautiful place.
-
extend the pleasure by observing the starry sky or taking a walk on a full moon evening
-
or continue, this time following the orange markings:
You’ll follow a small path along the cliffs to the scents of thyme, savory, rosemary, wild thyme and immortelle, and discover landscapes of ochre-toned earth, “our path” of the Moustiers ochres. Here too, a pause is in order. The signposted path then takes you into a lavender field, which you follow to the right. At the path, turn left and continue to follow the orange signs back to the house.
NB: When you arrive on the plateau, be careful with small children.
The red circuit takes 20 to 30 minutes.
